As we go about the ministry of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Pleasant Hill, it is easy to get caught up in the work that needs to be done.  It is easy to get side tracked from our main purpose by minor details that must be taken care of.  I was reminded this week by my father, who is the pastor at Mt. Sylvia Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX, that we are in it for the glory of God!  God created us, so that we might bring Him glory.  God saved us so that we might bring Him glory.  God established His churches so that they might bring Him glory.  I am reminded of the scripture in I Corinthians 10:31 that says, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do all to the glory of God.”  When you invite someone to church, don’t do it so that someone will pat you on the back or so that our church numbers will go up.  Do it for the glory of God.  As you help people in need, don’t do it for the good feeling that it gives you, or so that people will admire you for your generosity.  Do it for the glory of God.  As you work at your place of employment and do the very best that you can do, don’t do it for the pay check or the promotion.  Do it for the glory of God.  As you spend time with your family, don’t do it because you have to because they are your family.  Do it for the glory of God.  As you share with your friends, family and even complete strangers about Jesus Christ and how he can give them eteranal life, don’t do it for another soul winning notch on your belt, or because you feel obligated to do your part.  Do it for the glory of God.  I write this blog for the glory of God, may He be exalted in every word that is here.
